The Court Reporters Association of Zambia is the professional body advancing the standards, integrity, and welfare of court reporters across the Republic.
Court reporters occupy a quiet but essential position in the administration of justice. The verbatim record — the precise capture of testimony, ruling, and procedure — underpins every appeal, every citation, and every act of judicial accountability that follows a hearing's close.
The Court Reporters Association of Zambia exists to safeguard that record and the professionals who produce it. We set ethical standards, provide ongoing training, and represent the collective voice of court reporters in matters of policy, welfare, and professional development.
Membership is open to court reporters serving in the Subordinate Courts, the High Court, the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, and the Industrial Relations Court — as well as transcriptionists working in support of tribunals, commissions, and statutory bodies.
The verbatim record must be true to the proceeding. We hold one another to it.

For decades, court reporting in Zambia was practised but not organised — court reporters served the bench faithfully, but without a body to set common standards or speak in their collective interest.
In 2008, a small group of senior reporters from the Lusaka High Court convened to address that gap. The Association was incorporated shortly after, and has since grown to represent reporters and transcriptionists across all judicial divisions.
Today, CRAZ partners with the Judiciary, the Judicial Complaints Commission, and professional bodies including the Law Association of Zambia to advance standards in court reporting and digital transcription.
